We are seeking a skilled FRP Site Engineer for an immediate start to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to manage complex concrete structure packages on a transformative national infrastructure project.

Job Details

  • Location: Site-based role at Snowy Hydro 2.0, requiring travel to and from site.
  • Roster: Drive-In/Drive-Out (DIDO) or Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO), 14 days on/7 days off, alternating day shift & night shift.
  • Reporting to: Project Engineer.
  • Accommodation, meals, travel, and a company laptop provided.

Responsibilities

Technical & Quality Management

  • Analyze and review client-issued structural drawings, identifying discrepancies and raising Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure constructability and accuracy.
  • Manage the QA process for FRP works, including the preparation of ITPs and completing pre-pour and post-pour inspections via the GLAASS system.
  • Verify formwork installation against temporary works designs and ensure reinforcement is installed compliant with scheduling and design specifications.
  • Coordinate concrete mix designs and testing requirements (slump, cylinders) in conjunction with the quality team.

Operations & Coordination

  • Create detailed pour plans and lift plans to guide the Supervisors and crew during daily concrete operations.
  • Ensure the timely ordering and availability of materials (concrete, reinforcement, formwork systems, embedded items, and waterstops) to support continuous production.
  • Collaborate closely with the Superintendent and Supervisors to coordinate daily activities, ensuring seamless handovers between shifts.
  • Interface with FGJV and other onsite contractors to coordinate concrete logistics and resolve interface issues.
  • Verify the accuracy of Shift Reports and obtain client sign-off to ensure commercial compliance and accountability.

Safety & Compliance

  • Work closely with client engineers, surveyors, and safety teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of all documentation.
  • Foster a culture of safety, ensuring all FRP activities comply with strict health, safety, and environmental standards.

 

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in civil engineering, with a specific focus on FRP, concrete structures, or tunnel lining. Previous underground experience is highly desirable.
  • Construction Induction Training (White Card).
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence (Manual).

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Structural Expertise: comprehensive knowledge of formwork systems, reinforcement scheduling, and concrete placement techniques in complex environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to analyze structural construction drawings, calculate concrete and reo BOQ’s, and manage the RFI process effectively.
  • QA/QC Focus: Strong experience in quality control processes, including reo checks, pre-pour inspections, and closing out ITPs.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build effective relationships with client engineers, surveyors, and work crews.
  • Organization: Strong ability to manage material logistics, daily reporting, and documentation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compliance: Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, with experience implementing safety protocols in high-risk construction environments.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Willingness to undergo health screenings, as well as drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to provide proof of right to work in Australia (e.g., birth certificate or passport). 
  • Willingness to undergo or provide a current National Police Check.  
  • Ownership of a Telstra-compatible smartphone for site communication.
